Vanefeed vs the official Reddit API
Since 2023 Reddit's Data API requires an OAuth app, and commercial use needs a separate agreement with Reddit. Reddit also blocks most anonymous automated reading.
Vanefeed handles access for you. When Reddit refuses live reading, recent posts can come from a public Reddit archive and are marked as such, with their counts filled in as they arrive.
Example
curl "https://api.vanefeed.com/v1/reddit/posts?handle=r%2Ftechnology&limit=20" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $VANEFEED_KEY"
Every platform answers in the same shape: data (posts with author, text, published_at, metrics and media), plus next_cursor for the next page. Add dry_run=true to see the price first, free.
Good to know
- Only public content: no private accounts, messages or anything behind a login.
- One key covers every platform: TikTok API · X (Twitter) API · Instagram API · YouTube API · Facebook API · Telegram API · Bluesky API and news sites.

Questions
Do I need a Reddit app or OAuth token?
No. You call Vanefeed with your key.
Are scores and comment counts live?
From live pages they are. Posts served from the public archive are marked source: archive, and very recent ones may show their counts a little later.
Can I search one subreddit?
Yes: /v1/reddit/search?q=fastapi&subreddit=python.
Do failed calls cost credits?
No. Credits are only taken for successful answers, and every response shows what it cost in the X-Credits-Cost header. Repeats served from cache are free too.
Can I get sentiment with the data?
Yes: add sentiment=true to posts, comments or search and each result gets a positive, neutral or negative label with a confidence score, for 1 extra credit per 20 results.
