Vanefeed vs the official TikTok API
TikTok's own APIs don't fit most data projects. The Research API is limited to approved academic researchers, the Display API only shows data of users who sign in to your app, and the Commercial Content API covers ads.
Vanefeed reads TikTok's public web pages, the same videos and counts any visitor sees, and returns them in the same shape as every other platform we cover. You don't need a TikTok developer account, an app review or user consent screens.

Questions
Is there an official TikTok API for public videos?
Only for approved academic researchers (the Research API). The Display API only covers users who log in to your app. Vanefeed gives commercial teams public profiles, videos, comments and search without that approval.
Can I get TikTok comments and replies?
Yes. /v1/tiktok/comments returns the comments under a video with like and reply counts, and /v1/tiktok/replies returns the replies under one comment.
Can I get a TikTok video's transcript?
Yes. /v1/tiktok/transcript returns TikTok's own captions when the video has them, and otherwise transcribes its speech. Captions cost 1 credit; speech costs 1 credit plus 1 per started minute.
How fresh is the data?
Every call reads TikTok live at that moment. A repeat of the same call within a few minutes is served from cache and costs nothing.
Do failed calls cost credits?
No. Credits are only taken for successful answers, and every response shows what it cost in the X-Credits-Cost header. Repeats served from cache are free too.
Can I get sentiment with the data?
Yes: add sentiment=true to posts, comments or search and each result gets a positive, neutral or negative label with a confidence score, for 1 extra credit per 20 results.
